Terms of service
These terms govern your use of Coursewright, a software-as-a-service platform operated by Coursewright SAS. By creating an account or using the public demo you accept them.
Last updated August 1, 2026 · Coursewright SAS · Paris, France
1. Parties and scope
The service is operated by Coursewright SAS, Paris, France. "You" means the individual or organisation using the service. These terms apply to the free tier, paid plans and the no-signup demo alike.
2. The service
Coursewright transcribes a lecture recording or transcript and generates a course kit: workbook, slide outline, quiz, key takeaways and captions. Features labelled 'in development' are not part of the contracted service until they ship.
3. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address, verify it, and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity carried out under your account. Accounts are personal unless you hold a multi-seat plan.
4. Plans, quotas and billing
The free tier includes 3 lessons per month and works end to end without a card. Paid plans are billed in advance in euros, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until cancelled. Quotas reset at the start of each billing month and unused lessons do not carry over.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Statutory withdrawal rights for consumers in the EU apply where the service has not yet been fully performed. We do not refund partially used periods otherwise.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not upload material you have no right to record, reproduce or process.
- Do not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory or infringing.
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, scrape or overload the service.
- Do not use the service to generate material intended to deceive learners about its origin where disclosure is required.
7. Your content and ownership
You keep all rights in the recordings and transcripts you upload. You also own the course kits generated from your material, including edits you make, to the fullest extent ownership can subsist in AI-generated output. We claim no licence beyond what is strictly needed to run, back up and display the service to you, and we do not use your content to train models.
8. Our intellectual property
The Coursewright software, brand, interface, templates and documentation remain our property. Nothing in these terms transfers those rights to you.
9. AI accuracy disclaimer
Course kits are produced by automated speech recognition and large language models. Output can contain transcription errors, factual mistakes, omissions, mistimed captions or flawed quiz answers. Coursewright is an assistant, not an authority: you must review and edit every kit before teaching, publishing, assessing or certifying with it. We give no warranty that output is accurate, complete, pedagogically appropriate or fit for accreditation.
10. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party AI provider outages and force majeure may interrupt generation. We will restore service as promptly as reasonably possible.
11. Third-party services
The service depends on third-party providers for transcription, generation, hosting and email. Their outages, price changes or policy changes may affect the service; we will notify you of material changes.
12. Data protection
Personal data is handled as described in our privacy policy. Where we process learner or lecture data on your behalf, we act as processor under your instructions and apply the security measures set out there.
13. Warranties
The service is provided 'as is' and 'as available'. To the extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Mandatory consumer guarantees under French law are unaffected.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is capped at the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or €100 if you use a free tier. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of learners, reputational harm or loss of data where you have not kept your own copies. Nothing limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct or death and personal injury.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, endangers the service or is used unlawfully, with notice where practicable. You may close your account at any time; we delete your data as set out in the retention table.
16. Changes, governing law and disputes
We may update these terms and will announce material changes by email or in-app at least 30 days in advance. These terms are governed by French law. The parties will seek an amicable settlement; failing that, the courts of Paris, France have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory protective rules available to consumers.
